Cousin Emily and cousin-in-law Mike visited MDI for a summer respite from their home in Nashville, TN. The timing coordinated for some time together exploring the island. An afternoon hike down the Wonderland Trail ended at the rock beach at the southern point of Mount Desert Island.
Emily and Mike were visiting a friend, Judy, who is fortunate to live on Mount Desert Island, near Southwest Harbor. Judy had the whole crew at her home to share one of Jill's apple pies and stories about the island.
Whichaway, a 48 Defever, home to Chuck and Fabin Miller, joined Last Dance in Somes Harbor. From Somesville, Island Explorer Bus rides delivered the crews to Acadia Mountain and Southwest Harbor.
The steep trail up Acadia Mountain, rated severe by the park service, gave the crews some good exercise, a walk through the Maine woods, and vistas to view Somes Sound and the peaks of Mount Desert Island.
