Last Dance - Out of Storage

May 21, 2015

The first step in this year's adventure is to get Last Dance out of the warehouse in Brewerton, NY, where she spends the winter in her heated home.  To maximize the number of boats that fit into the warehouse, they are fitted in very tightly.  Positioning a 40,000 pound boat within inches of building supports and other boats is a skilled job.  In this photo, the trailer that will transport Last Dance out of the building is beginning to move under the boat.

The trailer operator stands on the right side of the trailer, communicating with other staff members to precisely move the trailer under the boat.  The trailer is then driven out of the building, into the open yard, where it is picked up in slings by a travel lift.  The travel lift carries the boat over a pool of water and lowers it back into its natural environment.  Large, specialized machinery and people with a lot of experience make moving a quick process. So, the first step in a long list of projects to ready the boat begins.
