Croton-on-Hudson and Teatown

Half Moon Bay Marina, located at Croton-on-Hudson, is a convenient spot to explore lower New York State and points of interest along the Hudson.  West Point, the FDR Library and Museum, and the Culinary Arts Institute are a short drive north.  The Enterprise rental agency, walking distance away' makes such visits an easy possibility.  A mile south of the marina is the Croton-Harmon train station with Metro North and Amtrak trains.  New York City is less than an hour away via Metro North.  The Last Dance crew had visited the sites to the north on previous cruises, so another trip to NYC to visit friends and the City, and a trip to see some of the nature of this area were accomplished.

Teatown is an old farm that has been placed in a conservancy and operated as a park with hiking trails and a nature education center.  It is located on 1000 acres in a hilly area west of the Croton River.  The skinny, winding, undulating road leading to the area park reminds one of the back roads in the North Carolina mountains.  Much different scenery than Manhattan just to the south.  The images below allow you to join the crew on a walk through the New York woods.
